Draw Gag Bridles

Draw gag  bits are most effective in teaching flex, bend, and good head set.  They are used with many types of headstalls.  Most are either too soft or too stiff to have any feel to the rider.  Reinsman has chosen the firm braided rope to add feel.

I like the smooth feel of the Jarett's Draw Shanks. It is not the pull as much as the release that concerns me with gag systems. As another alternative, a lower bit bar, similar to those used with many hackamores, a slobber bar, can be used to help keep the shanks in place.  - Chuck.

Jarrett's 9" Draw Gag Shanks - 9" Cheeks    Draw gag bits have been used with twisted, solid braided & hollow braided ropes to get a smooth action. These stainless steel cheeks not only gag smoothly, but release instantly & will not hang up causing a wreck! The headstall rings unscrew for bit assembly.  Reinsman recommends one of their Christy gag bits. The nylon cord is not a true curb strap. Adjust snugly to stop forward rotation of the cheeks. Cultured Cowboy has a line of mouthpieces designed for TWH interchangeable shank bit systems. 	1002 Slobber Bar    Stainless steel. for use with long shank hackamores and similar cheeks. Gags will perform better if loosely joined at the rein end. Most are either too soft or too stiff to have any feel for the rider.  Reinsman has chosen the firm braided rope to add feel.  Adjustment at the crown piece is with a common allen wrench set screw. Excess rope can be cut off & ends burnt if so desired. Headstalls shown here can be used with any Reinsman Gag bit.
	1/8" Twisted Wire Crown Draw Gag Bridle This crown has the twist and flex to add to poll pressure.	3/8" Lariat Crown Draw Gag Bridle This rope crown is more neutral than it may seem, but works well to get a good head set.
