SPURS
Charmayne James Spurs -
Charmayne James & Reinsman have
teamed to bring you some innovative barrel spurs which just happen to
match some of her bits. Having the spur
straps attach on swinging, slightly angled buttons will help position your
spurs as you need. If you have trouble with the spur travelling up
& down your heel counter of your boot, there is an old rodeo trick
that works better than the rubber thingy you sometimes see. Just use a
piece of thin coat-hanger wire, or solid electrical wire to attach to the
button swing, go under the heel of your boot, and attach to the other side
button swivel. This will stabilize the spur for you.

Our spurs fit better! While
some riders want a loose spur, other like a snug fit. It's a
matter of preference. To make fitting easier, out spurs are
available with angled swingers. An angled
swinger will conform more closely to the boot making the fit snug.
Straight swingers fit loose allowing the spur to slide up when
walking, and fall into position when riding. Each of our six
styles is available with our most popular angled swiinger. |

Martha Josey Sidewinder Spur
Silver with raised silver hearts. Engages
easily with slight sqeeze of the legs. Great for putting a horse in
position for those snappy turns. (Chuck - My first riding spurs were side
turned rowels. I found them to be effective without "gooching"
young horses. With a little practice you learn to "roll" into
the horse's side increasing pressure until it works with that horse. I
also found this great to sit on the horse, relax my legs and applying
light pressure, after a workout, desensitize the sides of horses that were
overly ticklish.) Martha has added some upward lift to the shank for
easier effectiveness. 7/8" band. 10 point rowel. 1
5/8" shank. Ladies size will fit youth.

Consider the
following when choosing spurs:
Shank length. Some riders need
a short shank not to over spur the horse. Other use long
shanks for contact without much foot movement.
Rowel Size and Shape. Small
rowels with sharp points can be severe and large rowels with
smooth points can be gentle. The effect depends on use by
the rider. |
Reinsman quality
points:
Tempered steel. Band can be
bent to fit without breaking. And, spur won't roll around
the heel when used.
Inset swingers. Lock against
the band to prevent excessive wear.
Rowels Bars & Balls. Choose
the pressure you feel comfortable administering. And choose the
tool which best matches the goals of horse & rider.
Look great. All steel and gun
blued for eye appeal without extensive polishing and oiling.
Intended to rust and turn golden brown for the "Cowboy"
look. Or, Stainless for the "chrome" look. And of
course, silver overlays when you desire! |
