The two piece sweet iron snaffle is the first
bit I (Van Hargis) use on practically every horse I ride.
& the one bit I come back to whenever a communication
problem arises. This bit was designed to be heavy,
balanced & communicative. The stainless steel Dee
rings give this bit eye appeal and ease of maintenance.
The barrels at the corners of the mouth are carefully
designed and enhanced with a smooth gliding bushing to
ensure long term smooth , eliminating any chance of
pinching. The two piece sweet iron mouth has a n easy
practical curve to promote an easily detectable signal
from the rider while being comfortable and palatable to

Offset Dee
The sweet iron three piece dogbone snaffle is
another carefully thought out bit boasting the same D-ring
characteristic and the same sweet iron steel, yet it has a
three piece mouth. Unlike most dogbone snaffles, I have
shortened the length of the centerpiece. This design still
sends a n easily detectable signal to the corners of the
mouth, but virtually eliminates the possibility of bumping
the palate when both reins are used

Allen Mouth Sweet Iron Offset Dee
This bit combines the
quality, features ands benefits of my (Van Hargis)
uniquely designed Offset Dee-ring snaffle with the
versatile Billy Allen Mouth. This is a great bit selection
for the horse tending to be a little loose in the neck and
shoulders. The limited movement of this mouthpiece helps
stabilize the shoulders while still being able to aid the
horse laterally on the corners of the horse's mouth
independently.

7/16" 3-Piece with Copper Roller Bit
This bit is designed to apply pressure to the
lips on the opposite side of the face to help the horse
turn. The mouthpiece breaks over the bars at a
different angle to contact new nerves and adds some tongue
pressure for better control. Copper rollers add that
sweet and sour taste for better moisture and will act as a
pacifier for many horses that like to chew on the
bit.

1/2" Billy Allen Snaffle Bit
This bit applies pressure to the lip on
the opposite side of the face from the rein you
pull. The mouthpiece, with its limited
travel, is excellent for colts or a light mouthed
horse. It applies a slight amount of
tongue pressure for a good head set and will help
pacify a nervous horse. STAGE

It is your choice: With an offset
Dee bit, the extra ring for headstall set, better assures
placement of the way a mouthpiece will break over tongue
& bars. Without it, the bit floats more. Try both ways
& see if their is a difference in the performance of
your steed. This trying all the time is scientific method,
and will help you to better know what might work again with
the next ride, or the next horse.
