Sleazy
Sleepwear for Horses began in 1986 at a Quarterhorse ranch in Hood River,
Oregon. The original patented design
was initially used on show horses
as a grooming aid. Coarse winter
coats were prevented by using the stretch hoods alone during the day and as an
undergarment for heavier hoods at night. Compared to the coarse and bulky hoods
commonly used, these snug fitting stretch hoods looked unusually stylish and
since they doubled as a night undergarment
the name "Sleazy Sleepwear for Horses" was born. Since it was
purchased in 1992, Sleazy Sleepwear for Horses™ has been continually improving
and expanding its product selection. The appeal caught on and the demand has
grown steadily for 15 years now.
Sleazy Sleepwear for Horses has become the most
recognized stretch garment for horses in the horses apparel industry. Today the
term "Sleazy" or "Sleazy Sleeper" used as a name identifies
the original brand and the style of garment as well all over the country. Pet
horses in general and especially show horses receive enormous amounts of
pampering and grooming. The development of the stretch hood was an innovative
way to help keep the horse clean and comfortable and ready for riding - just for
fun or for the demands of the show ring.
The
products created are designed to aid in grooming the horse by providing a cover
that smoothes the horse's body hair as well as taming the mane flat and to one
side. Sleazy products are guaranteed to be free from defects in materials and
workmanship for 3 months from the customer date of purchase.
Sleazy
garments are designed to fit using the horses actual weight. All Sleazies
incorporate a unique computer designed, form fit, Seamless Face TM
construction, for the best possible fit without irritation. Large eye holes and
ear holes provide a safety factor. Wide adjustable fleece lined nosebands
for comfort. All closures use a special low profile, high strength, Velcro
fastener for maximizing strength, reliability and ease of use. Hems are fully
finished. Elastic encased, and the girth is heavy duty and elasticized. Sleazy
products specialize in using stretch fabrics to achieve the desired results. The
three main fabrics used are:
Nylon
or Polyester Lycra: A woven fabric made from durable fibers, in combination with
spandex fibers, that result in a fabric with superior stretch.
Polyester Stretch Fleece: This product not only stretches, but adds warmth to
the garments. Made of polyester and spandex fibers, the outside is smooth with a
warm inside pile.
Polyester Knit: This durable fabric derives its stretch from the type of weave
used in its manufacturing process.
Wash care recommended is machine wash warm/gentle cycle and hang to dry.
