Nocona Black Anteaters
Nocona made a Handcrafted Western boot the way your great
grand-daddy expected them to be made. John
Justin passed this company to daughter, Enid,
who passed it back to John, the son, etc. Even
today, some of the tradition continues.
Fully
leather lined boots carry comfort through arch
support that is seldom matched by even the best
technologies of this day. (I have found a
silicone based insole that will add cushion if
you need. - $19.99 pair) Cushion comfort on top
of proper arch support - Oh My!
Nocona
offered to give your choice of toe and heel
on many styles. They used a numbering system of
#### - ## - toe#,heel## that allowed you to
designate your choice. So if you see a selection
and it has toes: 3,4,6, this means you can
choose from one of those toe styles.
(For Example, 1234 56 000 would
become 1234 56 403 for a #4 toe and #03
heel.)
Because
Nocona gave you this option, they had the
leathers of the top sewn to the vamp, but finished the boot as the orders
were placed. The
advantage is that you can pick your favorite
combinations. But, it usually took 4 to 6
weeks to get them. A small time to wait for such
a nice boot.
And,
you have a wide variety of choice for sizes.
There was a small service charge for EEE or sizes
above 13. But,
in this day of most companies discontinuing
these sizes, it is good to have the choice.
Mens
boots fit true to shoe sizes. Ladies need to go
down a full size.
All Nocona boots, (excepting the
"For Her" Collections), could be made for either
sex.
