Dakota Saddles

A barrel racing saddle with a Southwest flair! This is a popular combination of rawhide trim on braided horn, full cantle, and stirrups; always a favorite. Shown with a beautiful handtooled border weave design, sometimes called a "snake" tooling pattern,  with Montana Silver trim. Now Dakota Saddlery offers to "Buff", or sand your leathers as shown here. This is a new look for the arenas, and allows some grip, without looking "fleshy". Dakota uses the same machinery used in working with fine cars & truck finishing, to accomplish this look for you. Oil as you normally would condition your saddles.

The seat below is Chocolate suede. We can offer the latest in ostrich print seats, Caiman alligator, or bright leathers. At first, we may wonder why anyone would want an exotic seat; but after having seen several in action, perhaps it is the excitement of "new", but riders do well in them!

For those who prefer the traditional, this saddle is built on a semi-quarterhorse frame. If your horse requires, it can be built on a full quarterhorse tree. If you like high tech, it is available with a full flex tree. Although we have been racing on semi bars for 50 years, many people feel an advantage in the flex tree on a gymkhana saddle. Could cut split-seconds that make you money! The skirts are round designed to give a horse lots of freedom. In-skirt rigging lays close to the horse, so does your leg. Stirrup leathers are designed to give you much freedom of movement when needed.

PLEASE, call us with your true inseam. Stand flat on the floor with no boots on. Measure from your crotch to the floor. That is the inseam we need...not necessarily your jean size! This way, the legging system can be built to fit your needs. There is nothing worse than having to cut down the fenders and jockey after you get your saddle. Let us get it right for you at the start. And there are many other options you might find interesting too. Just call us!

Conchos with dees allow you to put those strings on for the trail ride, and take 'em off for the arena work. People usually like the feel of this deep seat on long rides. This barrel racer saddle is a great NBHA prospect as well as NHSRA.  Oh yeah, you can reverse the leather for a rough-out finish, or half breed finish, with no extra charges! You can even order it with square skirts.
