Custom Saddles
Our
customers are sometimes amazed at the results of Cultured Cowboy,
working through our saddle makers. Below are some very detailed
pictures for those of you who really like to see the finer points
of what to expect in a customized Dakota Saddle from Cultured
Cowboy.
Here
is another great example of a trail/pleasure saddle as made especially the
way you need it for your riding experiences. This saddle has
full QH bars and a 20" seat made with NASA foam; Inseam was
set for a shorter inseam rider. Perforated Comfort seat top with center fire rigging.
Dakota
Trail - Modified Roper Styled Pleasure Saddles
Here
we have a 20 inch seat with that comfy NASA foam
inserted, so that it contours to your
buttocks. Just 10 minutes & it settles in to your
body shape! Especially great if you ever had lower back issues or a
coccyx bone problem. Done in an extended bicycle seat
for still closer contact. This was fitted with a
little lift for rider's legs to feel closer together.
Perforated top grain seat allows all the breathe ability
you can get.
The
rigging is set for center fire options so that you can
best fit a few horses, adjusting the girth position
for each horse perfectly! This makes it easy to
find that sweet spot your horse likes on his back, and
move the girth off his elbows too. You can see from
the pics that the rings are done "roper"
styled with drop rigging. Rear ring still allows you
to tie your extra long girth tie strap through both
front and rear to achieve the center fire advantage,
even with a flank attached! Thanks to BigHorn for
those nylon girth straps - 90 inches!
Real
sheepskin bottom holds the saddle next to the pad
without unnecessary movement, yet still has thousands
of air pockets for best protection of the horse back.
And all these air pockets also add to rider
comfort.
We
worked with the customer to have an easy to care,
attractive riding saddle. The inseams were custom
fitted through jockey and stirrup customization. The
teardrop type trail fenders allow easy turning when
shorter inseams are in effect. Skirts were cut in a
butterfly pattern for more close contact. And the
front drop rig allows both strength and closeness to
your horse for better signaling. Although I tied the
girth straps to the front rig, you could as easily tie
to the back to make even less bulk under your
leg.
The
tree used was a modified roper, hide covered for best
flex where you need it and proper rigidity to hold it
in place too. The wider bars of a roper allow more
distribution or weight so there is no pinching on
fewer vertebra of the horse spine. The hide covered
tree allows flexibility not found in less expensive
fiberglass covered trees. Shell border will keep the
edges from rolling upward, and makes cleaning an ease.
Though the horn change prohibits roping, the rest of
the saddle is strong enough for whatever you might
meet.
For
all those things you might like to bring with you,
Dakota added front & rear rings on pommel and
cantle. And, 6 strings attached to dee clips under the
conchos.
Oiled,
conditioned, stirrups turned but not tied, so the
rider can easily make adjustments as she rides longer
trails. ( Yer legs won't get as tired if you're
letting them shift now & again. WE finish with a
nice protective saddle lac to further protect and to
better blend the coloration. YEp, Black, but we
could make it in any color.
When
we build yours, you too can give us your true inseam measurements and we can have the
saddle fitted for your best comfort. This is especially handy for youth, ladies,
or tall cowboys! (Measure from your crotch to the ground while
barefooted, with feet about shoulder length apart. if
this is 30 inches, we will actually have the stirrups
ready to set at 28 inches, so you can sit with
pressure comfortably in your stirrups. Yes, the
leathers will still adjust with the other
holes.)
Every
part of this saddle is made for you to enjoy your
ride. This
roper was modified to be just what the rider needed.
The rear reinforcement on the flank will keep that
flank from shifting into the way of the horse as
terrain changes. We can make the saddle with or without the flank straps.

The
tooling enhances the simplicity of the flowing
design of those skirts. Putting a plate rig on a
drop prevents damage to a skirt that could
happen as strain is placed on your equipment.
This is why you see this Bork type rig on the
heaviest built ranch saddles. The
bicycle seat gives all the comfort with ability
to feel more narrow in the tree to the rider.
Six strings are hung through the dee clips for
easy on & off as you like. For a trail
roper, this one certainly is
made for comfort for your horse and long rides
for you.

The
pleasure type horn has been popular
since the 1970's. The comfort cantle gives
you a lot more support than grandad's
"little wonder" tree so
popularized by Simco and others of that
era. Stainless steel breast collar
dees compliment the rest of stainless
hardware. They are set high on the skirts
to keep the breast collar from drooping
low on your horse. More Stability! |
