Here
is One of the best values in America. A used arena roping
saddle, that happens to be a great pleasure saddle, that happens
to be a great value! I call it basic, but it is better
than many brands' top line saddle!
Smooth
side out on the jockeys and fenders. Shown with leather conchos,
strung through. Strings will need replacing soon. Great
shape on the fleece. Comes with reinforced flank set. Was Golden brown,
but oiled heavily. Suede seat.
Fits
inseam measurements from 30 to 36. Full QH bars. If you have a
riding school, horseback riding vacation station, or hack horses,
this model and the 500, (same saddle with no tooling), are great
choices.
The leather is not a bunch of thin pieces glued together.
There is no pressed paper product in the skirts. The tree is
really a roping tree; go ahead and catch your cow! (Now, if you
are a professional wild cow catcher, call us for a saddle that
will be stronger. You know the real rigors involved. Ashley Rankin
says, "In this 21st century, there are dart guns for
that!") I can remember when we only recommended really
expensive name brands for cow catching. When I sold several Dakota
ropers to the
same guy, I asked him if he was tearing them apart. He laughed and
said, "Chuck, these saddles hold up, man. I just don't want
you to raise the price." We have not!
Seat
is stained but both the padding and the suede cover are in good
shape. No breast collar dees. Hook to the side of the front girth
ring. Cultured Cowboy re-conditioned this roper saddle with our
Lexol/olive oil combination. We conditioned both tree and leather.
Due to the age, we would recommend calf roping and steers. Not
huge weight bulls.

This
saddle is still in great shape. Horn wrap is original,
same with the stirrups. This Dakota 501 was used for
trail riding. Never been roping. Original fleece in
great shape.
|
|
As you can
see, the underside shows almost no wear. Stitches in
almost new state. No pulling on the leather holding
your girth rings. Stirrup leathers in great
shape.
|
|
Seat is
rust, plus the conditioning we added. You can see very
little wear. Cantle binding and seat stitching show no
wear. Original horn wrap. There are some scars on the
pommel leather.
|
|
Here's
the opposite side view. Comes with rear flank set
shown - again, original. We made sure all latigos
joining the Y of the flank were replaced as needed.
Stirrup pads on original stirrups show no wear! New
stirrup hobble straps. Nylon Girth tie straps.
