Used
Dakota
350 Saddle
What
is a pleasure saddle, anyway? It is a saddle you expect to feel
comfortable when you are in that seat for long hours at a time. The material Dakota uses for padding our
Cultured Cowboy saddles is not cheap carpet foam like
many of the other "value priced" saddles out
there. It is a superior grade that will not compress
nor deteriorate in short time.
This
used Dakota Saddle proves these good seats! Many years of service
& still sitting pretty! And all the skirts, everything is in
really good shape.
Oh yeah, and there is no pressed paper lining
the skirts where leather is supposed to be. The
finished top layer will not peel off, because there
are not lots of 1/16 inch thin layers glued together.
(beware those auction saddles!) You get real leather with Cultured
Cowboy! Years from now, you will enjoy
the same comfort as when the saddle was new. This one is shown with a
floral spot print, on skirts, jockey & fender. (just enough tooling to keep the leather from
curling),
Leather
conchos, and stained, oiled, rust suede seat. Jockeys
and fenders smooth side out for easier cleaning. Standard pleasure
horn is there,
but not so tall as to get in the way.
That 5 inch cantle will help hold you in the seat on steep
upgrades. The laced Cheyenne roll makes this saddle easy to
handle. Comes with rear dees under the conchos, but you can easily add two more at
the front corners.
No breast collar
dees on this one. Hook to the front rings, or add them
later. Heavy Duty synthetic fleece. Fits inseams of 30 - 36
well. Comes with your choice of Semi QH bars. 7/8 position Stainless steel
double rigging gives you loads of strength. Plenty of room in the thigh
area. Life doesn't get much better than all this!
Not
much wear in the original stirrups. (tells us that the saddle
actually was not ridden much. This saddle came to us after the
death of someone's family member. Had been hanging in a barn for
several years. Cultured Cowboy reconditioned the tree and all the
leather. 4 liters of Lexol, almost 2 bottles of extra virgin olive
oil, and a whole lot of time & love! It's older & a
little stiff on the skirt edges, but will make a fine saddle for
someone.
Suede
seat actually measures 16 3/4. This saddle was actually golden
brown when new and had gone a long time without conditioning. We
really didn't care about the color so we loaded it with
conditioning to bring new life into the leather. This darkened the
saddle a lot! Expect a few light age cracks, but we checked
everything out OK.

Here
are the cracks I mentioned earlier. Stirrup
leathers are still in shape to perform as a
pleasure saddle should. None are torn or deep.
If
the saddle had been oiled earlier, these would
have never happened. - Good lesson - Condition
your tack!
Notice
the stitching on skirt is in fine shape
too. |
