Charlie 1 Horse hats

Cultured Cowboy has sold Charlie 1 Horse hats from the first time we
saw them. That was the days of the "Urban Cowboy"
hackles and feathers! Thanks to Gordon Moore for all he has done
for the hat industry. (Gordon was a middle owner. Seems every time
Charlie 1 horse has been sold, it has improved the brand. Look at these
selections and you will understand exactly what Cultured Cowboy means by

How to fit your
size. Charlie
1 Horse Western Straw hats are available In Sizes: 6 3/4 - 7 5/8.
Hat sizes kinda sort of go by ruler sizes, but
the confusion comes in a size 6 1/2 is not 6 1/2 inches around. If you are not sure of your size, just take a soft
ruler tape and measure around your head where you prefer it to fit. Most
people will go around the biggest part of the back of their head, and be
about 2 to 3 fingers (turned sideways) above their eyebrow. We can
convert these inch measurements to your hat size for you. You want
to be able to pull your hat down in a windstorm, but wear it a
little more loose in normal weather. Some people like to tilt it
back a little when they relax. Then wear it more square when
business need to be done! There is a hat fitting chart at the
bottom of this page.
Also, have a friend look at
the top of your head and see if it is shaped round like a ball,
like an egg, square looking, or like a round oval race track. This
helps us to steam and pre-fit your hat to better break your hat
in.
How About Hat Bands? When you see options of several
colors in a hat style, you can expect the hatband, ribbons and
such to complement the color shown. But, cowboys have always
carved their own uniqueness. Part of that is in customizing your

How do I care for My Hat?
Hats are as much fun to own
as they are to buy. Most straws can be lightly washed with water,
and a mild detergent if needed. Click
here to take a look at cleaners, stiffners, hat racks, boxes,
brushes and such. Because we have spent 30 years cleaning
hats, just give us a chat to ask what you might need if you are
not sure. You will be amazed how nice they look with a simple brim
brushing. After every so many rainstorms, you may need to apply
another light coat of hat stiffener. Always remember that like
painting a car, you want to use a lot of light coats.
Straw hats are absorbent. They soak up sweat and stains in the same fibers that
wick the moisture away from your head. This wicking and
evaporation is why hats seem to be comfortably cool in the hot
sun. Once stained, you can only cover the coloration. You know,
there are hats they make look all stained when you first get them.
And can you believe they do charge extra for that!

1500 or so; most major
brands. And there are sometimes a favorite hat or two you are trying to
get again. Usually, when a style is changed, it is just to make room for
something else, or just the hatband is changed. Be sure to call us
(at the numbers below, bottom of page) and we can guide you through any
selection process.
What does "Available to order Now for Future
Delivery" really mean? Charlie 1 Horse hats
are so special, that the hats are made as the factory gets
orders. There are too many for Cultured Cowboy to stock
every hat in every brand we carry. However, we can place a future
delivery of your hat for you. Usually, 2 to 12 weeks
to make a hat, depending upon the supply & demand
of the materials used. Just after Covid 19, they were
sometimes 2 years out! We're real happy to get them
for you much quicker. (Usually 1-4 weeks.)
Plan ahead if you can. If not, call us. We might have
something else in stock ready to go for you. C1H

When you're the CMA Entertainer of the Year, there are both privileges
& obligations.
You're in the "spotlight" for more of life than you would wish.
It's a dream come true, and a revelation of very public life.
Charlie 1 Horse has its name from the Native American who began the
brand. He too crept into fame and was wise enough to hire Gordon
Moore as advisor/accountant. After a time CIH left the business with
Gordon. And Gordon built it into a huge brand.
Gordon, understanding business, sold to Hatco. Allowing a larger
corporation to help grow the brand larger than he could alone.
Lainey, I'm sure has a great stream of advisors to help her in life as
well as career. As spectators, we often see the bright lights, but
not the entire effects of such "brightness".

Hat
Fitting Chart : If you have a soft ruler, or tailor's tape, just
measure around your head where it feels comfortable. If not, use a
string around your head, then measure the string.
And just as important is head shape. In addition to size, Cultured
Cowboy would ask, please, We prefer you send an email to cowboy@culturedcowboy.com
with a picture of your face (shape of the brim to complement your
jawline, or cheeks, or other fabulous unique facial beauty,) and the top
of your head (shape can be long, extra long, round, kinda squared, and
we can steam the hat to better fit you out of the box.) (Please wet hair
if thick like an "Afro". Can't see head shape through all the
"fur"! If you have extra thick hair, measure around that
too. Some hair fashions can have the head and hair measured as one, to
have size large enough. Extensions and "Bob Marley" looks can
add significant size.
Hat & hatband colors: Choose wisely. OK
here's a secret for all you guys buying for gals. Look at her eyes. A
woman will never put something "ugly to her" on or around her
eyes. If her eye makeup is blue, she likes blue. If green, she
likes green. If she barely wears makeup, she likes natural tones - tans
& browns are good. If her mascara is dark, choose darker colors.
Black for the Gothics. Ditto her mouth. Light lip color, choose
light pinks, baby blues, creams. If bloody red, choose brighter reds,
deeper darks. Have fun with this! It ain't that hard!

Ladies: If a gent
is getting a little grey, choose dark colors to help mask that, or
better, go with it and find a hatband with some hints of grey to make
him look more distinguished. Red might be your fav, rad color; but don't
put a red-headed guy in reds. Instead, choose southwest colors that
enhance. (God didn't make all that red rock in nature without using more
nature to beautify the entire picture. Ya'll do the same. Dark
complexion? Choose a brown tone that brings forth that beauty. God
didn't "whitewash" all of us, just some of us Europeans.
And we try to get "sun-tanned"! Use skin tones for
all they are worth. At almost 70, I like a little grey, just a
touch, in my hat to bring forth the maturity I worked so hard to have!
A hat is a great asset.
It brings forth beauty, ruggedness, softness, exquisiteness, ...
But the greatest beauty is that smile on the face! Laugh lines
that uneducated people call age lines, are marks of a wonderful
