Full Leather Outback Style Cape Dusters
Originating as protection from the terrible weather on ships, these
dusters were first made from the torn sails of the ships. The "cape" was
popular in the Australian continent. It provided a double layer against rains. Leg
straps were added to hold the long tail from blowing above the body in gales. Large
pockets held tools, etc. Storm flap front closure of snaps also keeps weather
from blowing onto the body. This popular design is now in sturdy leathers with other
features to add comfort to a style handed down for generations. Features include a
fuller cut, removable cape, (for looks as well as for protection.). Removable
liner allows the wearer to enjoy extra warmth in colder seasons. Take liner out to
continue blocking the wind in warmer seasons. There is a large gusset in the split
of the tail to allow covering your seat while sitting. Inside pocket to keep
personal belongings. Adjustable sleeves do not tighten quite as close as a standard
zippered sleeve jacket. Front pockets allow side entry as well as top
entry. Clean and condition these leathers with leather balm. You
may use snow seal, or mink oil to weather proof . CAUTION: all conditioners will
darken the color of distressed leather until they dry. Expect the variations of the
distressing process to become more pronounced after cleaning and
conditioning. Darkening of the leather on the neck or the sleeves from body
oils is a natural occurance as your body oils will keep the leather full of natural
conditioners where contact is direct. Neutral cream or wax polish can be used
to enhance the distressed color while a black polish or cream will work on the Black
leather. Sizing on these coats tends to be small. Order a size larger
than your chest measurement for a snug fit and two sizes larger for a more relaxed fit.
CAUTION: Be sure the tail of the duster will not possibly tangle
into your motorized vehicle. Although "Renegade" rides with his tail in
the wind, THIS MAY NOT BE SAFE. Neither Cultured Cowboy nor any manufacturer nor
distributer of dusters intended these coats as anything other than stylish coats for
ship decks or dry land. THEY WERE NOT DESIGNED FOR RIDING MOTORIZED VEHICLES. ( We
are trying to cover ourselves in case someone is dumb enough to try in real life what is
seen on TV by professional stuntmen in controlled situations. You are on your own - no
insurance -BE SAFE )
