CULTURED COWBOY PRESENTS

Nocona Anteater Boots

A Rare Find!

Men's size 10 D, ready to ride!  Here's a rare find, and no longer available for a long time.
This pair has been part of the Cultured Cowboy Museum Collection for many years.
Made in Nocona Texas, USA

As I near retirement, perhaps it's time to pass a few items for others to appreciate. This boot was handcrafted in the heyday of Nocona Western Boots.  It is their finest craftsmanship, as you can appreciate from the pictures below.  You may know that the direction of management of Nocona Boots has radically changed.

Original box. Never sold. New condition. Original tag. Been in a protective glass case. When they were offered, I believe it was in limited edition. Today, the anteater is protected by law. And rightly so. This was made for Cultured Cowboy as part of the old Nocona Boot Dealer's Choice program.
Want to own a true piece of Western legacy?

If you deem yourself a boot connoisseur, WE look forward to passing these to you, as the next owner.

Men's Anteater Boots - Diamond pattern is quite prominent. Easily recognizable. This boot is made with some of the finest glove leather linings. These linings work with the outer exotic leather to make a strong structure for many years of service.  Definitely dress boots, the leather soles are of the best combination of durability & flexibility. This Nocona anteater will feel similar to a fine lizard boot to wear, if we are to compare. Very supportive arch support built in.

These boots, at the time of manufacture, did not use any endangered animals. Sometimes nature & fate and changes in habitat make a difference in life cycles. We thank those who care enough to try to preserve our life species! Good ecosystems depend on not wasting any part of the animal.

Cultured Cowboy has held a long term relationship with Nocona, Justin and Tony Lama Divisions of Justin Industries. Although all three brands are owned by one company, Justin Brands had left each division unique, and at this time, all three maintained their fit like they always had. Nocona is a little tighter in the instep and heel than TL or Justin.

If you are familiar with vintage Nocona Boots, you understand the value that handcrafted boots can provide. If Nocona exotic boots are new to you, you have to try them to understand how truly great they feel. The boots are cut generously in size. They allow comfortable room for your arches. Until they break-in, they will slip on your heels.

People that wear Western dress boots do not always wear them to look like cowboys. The arch support and quality craftsmanship allow us to go all day without sore feet and aching backs or legs. You see a lot of national ads in magazines with young adults wearing their Nocona Boots and shorts. (I've been doing this for over 50 years. Guess I've been ahead of the fashion scene! OK, admit it. You probably wore your shorts, Nocona's and trophy buckle without a shirt too, didn't you?)

Why choose an Exotic Western Boot?

Exotic boots are a tool. These Anteater Boots are an investment. They make a statement. Not everybody can afford them. Not everybody has guts enough to wear them. Comfort combines with class. And class always works. Spoil yourself!

Now, you probably don't wear an expensive boot every day. So, make a nice place on a mantle, or in a corner of an office, perhaps a display case to display your boots, as decor, when you aren't wearing them. Famous people do this all the time. And, keeping exotic footwear in a closed, damp closet is never a good idea.

Nocona Sizes: In choosing a men's Nocona Boot size, choose the size you most often wear in your dress shoes. (wear a 10D, get a 10D)

What was Dealer's Choice?   Dealer's Choice boots were available in a lot of sizes...That's great! But know that many of the toe and heel combinations, along with the size range, means that they made the boots as your orders were placed. On customized boots, Cultured Cowboy usually bills a deposit around the time of your order and the balance at the time of shipping. This seems fair and keeps cash flow circulating. Depending on time of year and out-of-stock status, delivery can be 1 week to 36 weeks. ( We can let you know more about delivery times right after your orders are placed. ...(See why we don't have buy buttons.)  Just call our numbers below!  Thanks and God Bless,  CC

Front View

Rear view - Stacked leather heels. Well positioned heel counters onto the heels. - Just a touch of angle to help with the proper break-in of the boots.

Lateral View - Notice 1 piece vamps.

Medial View

View of the boot sole. Notice the depth of your arch support.

Top view of the toes. Notice the consistency of pattern in these vamps.
eA closer view of the underside. Twin rows of Brass nails & Lemonwood pegs hold your support in place.

Channel stitched quality on the sole stitching.

Rubber heel bottom absorbs shock of stepping and provides wear protection on the most pressured part of your movement.

We lightened this picture to help you see the detail of anteater boots.
Much like the sea bass or the Amazon fish used in boots, today, but with a tighter class. More delicate detail and less "fuzzy" scales.   Also see the very clean lines of the welt.

Close up of the Pull Tab - also of Exotic Anteater.

Inside View.  Notice the tall heel slip pad designed to keep your socks feeling good after pulling on your boots. The darkened areas on heel pad are from the glue used to attach the heel pads over the leather insoles.  All for your foot's protection & comfort.

Anteater boots need a delicate cream for conditioning, and sometimes a de-salter to remove salt from the skin. ( If you see white lines after wearing, you need a de-salter.) These products are designed to recondition this exotic skin. Leather balm can be used to clean these boots. We highly recommend wiping the dust off after every wear. Use care with your wear!
Then, use a matching black cream polish to protect the boot from scuffs, or to cover existing scuffs. There may be several boot care products you are interested in. Just ask about what all you may enjoy...boot hooks, boot jacks, horsehair brushes to apply and polish, etc. We have it all for you. You see, we want these boots to last a good long time for you! Just a little care will make them go a lot farther. Again, be sure to wipe the dust and dirt off the skins with a soft cotton cloth each time you take them off after wearing. This keeps dust and dirt from cutting into the leathers over time.
