We know you can find all sorts of western boots today. And to find a good pair sometimes gets confusing. Most of the major "brands" offer everything from not built so well to built very well.  This page, these RWatson cowboy boots are targeted to those with a bit of discriminating taste.  ( Cheap ain't inexpensive! It's cheap! )    Cheap cost much more in the long run.  (I know I'm preaching to the choir here!)

What we have found is that the consistency and quality of these R Watson exotic boots allow us to be proud to provide them for you. How are the heel counters made? Sturdy! Why - the heel counter that you cannot see is what will determine whether your foot has a tendency to break over the outside of your heel. Once this happens, you not only lose support under your feet, they start to hurt.

Are the soles welted so that my boots can be resoled? Yes - This hand welting process takes a lot more skill than injection molding, which is why so many brands are turning to that process. Skilled labor is in short supply so R Watson pays an attractive wage - you get a better product when the bootmakers care about your satisfaction

Is the toe box made of preformed material that sweats your toes, or is it breathable?  They do allow air to circulate without being trapped in your socks, will avert foot fungus, and will help the boot materials to last much longer.  Does air flow around as well as moisture flowing through to the outside of your footwear?  This happens with the materials used in R Watson dress boots. Be careful to purchasing a boot that's not too small. Your heel should slip a little when you step in your new boots. This pumps the air around your foot like the design was meant to be. 

How about the linings? Glove linings are the norm here and the rear of the shaft has enough support that the boot lining will not tear with the pressures of your putting on or pulling off your boot.  And these glove leather linings breath!  Without going into all the details, (Which we will do if you call to ask), you can trust R Watson cowboy boots to be moderate in price and way above moderate in longevity, and comfort. Also: the bed of your boot has a full leather lining on the inside to prevent "kicking up of the shorter heel pads used on many boots. 

    Why a 10 row stitch pattern? - It crafts body into the structure of the leather shafts. The decorative stitching functions to keep the top from falling onto your ankles over time. The patterns are engineered through experience to enable support where needed, without limiting range of motion while walking or especially running in your boots. (They break in better.)  R Watson also uses some corded stitching to also accomplish this, with less flamboyance. (Many makers cut labor and material costs with fewer rows. As we approach 13 inches in height, or more, the designers need to add features to benefit your long term comfort.)

Mr. Randy Watson was past President of Justin Industries. His experience, the trust our industry has for him, and his caring for both the makers and wearers of boots brought him back into boot making. 40 years of experience need not go down the drain!. He came out of retirement, and when various other opportunities fell into place, he began R. Watson Boot Company.

Imagine, a boot that will look remarkable - even years from now! Leather will seem to find scratches & stains if used as intended. These marks are great for telling personal stories! When they Iook new, I like 'em for dressy happenings. (Chuck's opinion!)  Please apply a good delicate cream conditioner. Condition when the leather seems even a little dry. 

So, here are more pictures of the Antique Saddle Bruciato Full Quill Ostrich Western boot, with wide square Toe. Double row sole stitching.

First, you'll notice the quality of the full quill ostrich leather is great! It's top grain leather from the center back of the ostrich, including balanced full quill marks. Expect that R Watson Boots will match right and left boots very well!  One benefit is: Almost "broken in" comfort on your feet. Tops of a unique to R Watson stitch pattern on a contrasting conservative color top.

Glove lining and outer leathers are reinforced by both the shaft stitching & the piping of side seams, to hold the shaft from dropping uncomfortably.

A quality Sno-Seal, Sno-Proof, or Mink Oil can be used for extra protection & waterproofing. BUT it will darken the leather. 

Authentic looks,  Still, having the support you need for running and On-foot events as well as in-saddle. If you need a good dancing boot to impress, This might be your boot ! 

Strong pull tabs. Very durable tough leather sole & stacked heels shown. Notice the quality glove leather linings, the extra heel slip leather inside, the "form to fit" insole & outer sole under your feet. The quality built into & through the entire sole is to hold your arch from any slipping. 

Look how tight the heel counters, heel rands and heel base fit together for even more lateral support. When you hold the boot by the heel counter, you'll immediately know why these do not roll over to the outside like so many production boots tend to do. This inner counter must be made of the best leather to withstand the rigors of tons of pressure you'll exert as you move, doing what you do. 

 Special calf widths can be accommodated, but it takes longer to have them made. Often we can steam & stretch the tops as you need. This boot seems to fit calves well. EE width feet come with wider adjusted calves too.  (Some options will add to the base price above.) 

3/4 welted leather soles shown. Arch support is held in place through careful craftsmanship with rows of wooden pegs. 

Soles are stitched and can be  re-soled down the road, by any quality boot repair shop.
