Fitts Colt Breaking Saddle
Circle
G Brand Saddles are the quality and pride of hand made saddles that you can
pass on to your grandkids. And since we never know quite what
those kids may be doing, how about a heavy duty training saddle that will
let them do anything, just like it has for you. Engineered to take
the daily grind, even in the most trying of weather
conditions on the ranch, still, ranch ropers are among the most
comfortable Western saddles made.
If
you ever wrangled a string of mustangs, you understand the need
for something that will be balanced so you can work through rough
bucks and rearing. A swell that you can sink your thighs into if
needed. Strong rigging. A seat that holds, with a cantle that
doesn't bite.
I
remember a big 17 hand monster that a friend brought to me. Bought
at a sale, CHEAP! A beautiful animal. About a 7 yr old. The new owner had hit the
dirt several times. Up my driveway, here came horse and walker.
David, the new owner, explained the horse jumped really hard, and he couldn't stay on.
(When I
was early twenties, thirties, even forties, I loved a challenge.
Still do if the mood hits.)
This gelding would rear when the rider put a foot in the stirrup.
So what! I was frisky too. When the rear didn't stop me, "ole
Dobbin" jumped in the air and landed on all fours, hard.
David's saddle pommel was between my legs. Trouble was, the rest
of the saddle was still on the equine's back. I had shot into the
rafters. ...Well. I put one of my "colt" saddles on, and
we tried again. When "ole Dobbin" was in the air, I
spurred and popped his ears at the same time with a cupped hand.
Horse stopped and walked off like a gentleman. Even did turnbacks,
extended trot, backed up at stop, another couple dressage and
reining moves. That horse was great. (Once he knew you could
command him.) Lesson learned - Use a real saddle when breaking
colts, or worse, spoiled aged horses!
Garroutte Products will make cowboy saddles that are better than average. Better in
quality, better in fit and better in performance.
Whether
or not you have the experience of a professional, anybody can sit
in one of these ranch type colt breaking saddles and tell it was made for a
lifestyle. The
tree and the saddle make your life more comfortable by placing emphasis on
your seat and leg position. These cowboy saddles allow good close positioning with your
horse. This series is built on a tough, (get out of the way till
you need it pommel), bullhide
covered wooden tree, made so you can take care of business. A
strong post
horn is used for roping, dragging, hanging tight or pulling. The ground seat and rise is proper to aid you in
your riding, rather than restricting you, because you never know
what life can bring you today. There are several
stirrup options depending on your preferences for your type of
ranch work.
Designed
for the strength and endurance which a cowhand or wrangler will
put it through. Don't plan on having to trade this one in after a
couple seasons! Your using saddle is built with selected woods, placed in positions according to their
flexing and their rigid properties. Then bullhide covered to hold
in moisture and add years of life. The tree maker gives a 5 year warrantee, but this is
the type of tree that lasted over 20 years in your grandfather's
saddles. Using the best leather on top of all that foundation
will keep your seat in the saddle till it's time to "Give it
up to Jesus".
The standard tree in this
wrangling saddle is
Full Quarter Horse bars with a 4 inch height cantle, but with the
specially formed seat, you achieve the riding support of higher
cantles in other saddles. 4 inches of cantle will still
allow you to lean back on a hilly ride without feeling a bite in your lower
back. And, you can choose between a standing straight, or
Cheyenne cantle roll.
Since
leg
position is important in the work of a cowboy, we are going to ask you a
few questions about your leg dimensions, sort of like fitting for
chaps, so that length of leg as well as diameter of thigh are
properly positioned. With seat sizes from 14 to 16 in half inch
increments, fit can be exacting.
Rigging
is shown as a dropped plate. Reinforced leather slot in the rear. Heavy duty rigging
for all kinds of ranch work. The 1 piece hardseat can be rough or
smooth side out. Want a padded bicycle seat added on top? We
can do that too.
High
quality choices of heavy duty synthetic fleece, and wool are
offered.
